1. Onomea Donkey Trail – Rocky and pebble beach areas. Hiking, nature study, swimming, and fishing. Hazardous footing, waves, currents and cliffs. Steep pedestrian only access trail to Onomea Bay from Old Mamalahoa Highway. Starts just north of Hawai`i Tropical Botanical Gardens Entrance/Parking. 2. Alakahi Trail – Rocky and pebble beach areas. Hiking, nature study, swimming and fishing. Hazardous footing, waves, currents and cliffs. Pedestrian access only along the old Onomea Access Road from Old Mamalahoa Hwy along the sea cliff to Alakahi Stream and down to the shore. 3. Onomea Bay Trail – Rocky and pebble beach areas. Hiking, nature study, swimming and fishing. Hazardous footing, waves, currents and cliffs. Limited parking available on shoulder of Old Mamalahoa Highway at trail head. Pedestrian only access to Onomea Bay from Old Mamalahoa Highway at old entrance to Hawai`i Tropical Botanical Gardens. Leads to Alakahi Trail and Donkey Trail.
