Mission Statement
Guided by the spirit of aloha and kuleana, the County of Hawaiʻi Animal Control & Protection Agency works to safeguard both people and animals. We are dedicated to fostering positive relationships with the community built on trust and education, maintaining meaningful connections with rescues and welfare professionals, and improving the quality of life for animals and their people.
Vision Statement
To create a compassionate Hawaiʻi Island where every animal is treated humanely, owners embrace responsibility, and communities are informed and engaged in proper animal care. We envision a future with reduced animal overpopulation, fewer animals entering shelters and minimal euthanasia, where animals are safely returned to their homes whenever possible, and those who commit cruelty are held accountable.
