Committee on the Status of Women

Purpose: To provide for a permanent and continuing countywide program on behalf of women in the County of Hawai' i.

Authority:
Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 367-4

Appointment:
Mayor, no confirmation required. Normal four-year staggered terms.

Full Membership:
Nine (9) members.

Ex-Officio Members:
The County Corporation Counsel and the County representative of the State Commission on the Status of Women.

Specific Representation:
None required.

Requirements:
Interest in and knowledge of matters relating to women.

Meetings:
At least six (6) per year. Called by Chair with at least seven (7) days' notice given. Itemized agenda filed at County Clerk's Office at least six (6) days prior to meeting.

Financial Disclosure:
Not required.

Reappointment:
Per Mayor's discretion.

Qualities:
Selected on the basis of their interest and knowledge of local conditions and their ability to make contributions to the solution of problems relating to the status of women within the County.
