Police Commission

Mr. Greg Yamada, from Council District 3, is the first nominee appointed by Mayor Alameda to serve, voluntarily, on a County board or commission. He was nominated to the Police Commission on January 2, 2025, and was confirmed on January 22, 2025.

A resident of Hawaiʻi for 60 years, Mr. Yamada retired in December 2023 after over 30 years of service with the Hawaiʻi Police Department, where he worked as both an officer and a reserve officer. He is also a volunteer member of the Caretakers of Kaipalaoa Hilo Bayfront. Additionally, he previously volunteered for the Hawaiʻi Island Humane Society and is not affiliated with any political party.
